Maitake
In Japan, Maitake (Grifola frondosa) is called the “dancing mushroom”.

It grows in clusters at the base of old oaks, is a prized ingredient in Japanese cuisine and is best known in the specialist literature for its beta-glucan D-fraction. In this category you will find MycoMedica Maitake in capsules, as organic powder and dried.
Three extracts in capsules
All contain 500 mg of extract per plant capsule, 90 capsules per pack:
- Maitake PRO – extract from fruiting bodies (not mycelium) with min. 35 % beta-glucans, of which min. 30 % beta-1,3/1,6-glucan.
- Maitake 50 % – min. 50 % polysaccharides and 20 % beta-1,3/1,6-D-glucans.
- Maitake – 100 % pure extract with min. 30 % polysaccharides, biofermentation and hot-water extraction.
Organic powder and dried mushroom
Organic Maitake powder (100 g) is ground fruiting body without additives to stir into water, a smoothie or porridge, typically 1–3 g a day. Dried Maitake (100 g) is meant for cooking – after soaking, add it to soups, risotto or vegetable dishes. Cook before eating.
How to choose
If you want the highest guaranteed concentration of beta-glucans from fruiting bodies, choose the PRO line; the 50 % version focuses on polysaccharides, and the classic extract is a more affordable option for regular use. All three versions are suitable for vegans and free from caffeine, gluten, colourings and sugar. Maitake is also part of MycoMedica blends, for example in the MyTao edition and the mushroom and herb blends category.
