Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum): a traditional mushroom and what we know about it

Mushrooms are attracting renewed interest as foods and food supplements. Modern interest often returns to species that traditional cultures have known for a long time.MycoMedica Reishi

Reishi mushroom

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a mushroom originating from Asia, also known as the lacquered bracket fungus. In traditional Chinese practice it has long been associated with general well-being and longevity as part of cultural heritage — not as a medicinal claim.

It contains polysaccharides and triterpenoids that are subjects of scientific research. Research interest does not equal an authorised health claim in the EU.

Reishi is often combined in product ranges with Cordyceps and Chaga.

See the Reishi and vital mushrooms collections.

Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Mushrooms and plant extracts have no authorised health claims in the EU. Always follow the product label.
